Geographic Information

The City of Oxford is located in Lafayette County in the north central portion of Mississippi, approximately equidistant between St. Louis, Missouri and New Orleans, Louisiana.  The area's topography is characterized by rolling hills.  The City, which was incorporated in 1837, presently covers an area of 12.13 square miles and has a population of roughly 11,700.  The City is the home of the University of Mississippi, which was established in 1848.  The University has produced 24 Rhodes scholars, and is ranked among the top 30 institutions with largest endowments per student.

FROM MEMPHIS, TN, VIA I-55:

  1. From Memphis, Tennessee, take I-55 south for 63 miles.
  2. Take the Batesville/Oxford exit off I-55. Merge onto MS-6 and proceed east toward Oxford, Mississippi, for 26 miles.
  3. Once in Oxford, take the third exit, turn left onto Old Taylor Road and left on to the University Avenue to the Campus.
  4. Cross the bridge and take a right at the 4-way stop onto Grove Loop.The Yerby Conference center is the first building to your right and Triplett Alumni Center is the  second building to your right.The Inn at Ole Miss is located just behind this building.
  5. Turn right onto Alumni Drive immediately past that building and you will see the pool and hotel entrance.
FROM MEMPHIS, TN, VIA HWY 78:
  1. From Memphis, Tennessee, take US-78 for 52 miles.
  2. Exit US-78 at the Holly Springs/Oxford exit.
  3. From Holly Springs, take MS-7 south for 31 miles.
  4. Once in Oxford, take the 4th exit onto MS-6 and proceed west.
  5. Take the third exit, turn right onto Old Taylor Road and left on to the University Avenue to the Campus.
  6. Cross the bridge and take a right at the 4-way stop onto Grove Loop.The Yerby Conference center is the first building to your right and Triplett Alumni Center is the  second building to your right.The Inn at Ole Miss is located just behind this building.

FROM JACKSON, MS:
  1. From Jackson, Mississippi, take I-55 north for 150 miles.
  2. Take the Batesville/Oxford exit off I-55. Proceed east on MS-6 toward Oxford, Mississippi, for 26 miles.
  3. Once in Oxford, take the third exit, turn left onto Old Taylor Road and left on to the University Avenue to the Campus.
  4. Cross the bridge and take a right at the 4-way stop onto Grove Loop.The Yerby Conference center is the first building to your right and Triplett Alumni Center is the  second building to your right.The Inn at Ole Miss is located just behind this building.
  5. Turn right onto Alumni Drive immediately past that building and you will see the pool and hotel entrance.

Directions to Brandt Memory House from the Conference Center/Hotel

Turn left onto University Avenue and drive for about half a mile.Brandt Memory House and School of Education parking lot is on your right.
