Research Facilities
The
School of Pharmacy is the sole occupant of Faser Hall, a four-story building
completed in 1969, housing the teaching and research activities of the
faculty and students. The fourth floor of Faser Hall, which houses the majority
of The Department of Medicinal Chemistry laboratory and office space, has
been fully renovated in 2005. Renovation of the third floor of Faser Hall began in 2008.
Currently, all members
of the Medicinal Chemistry faculty hold joint appointments with the Research Institute of Pharmaceutical
Sciences. In 1989, the Institute's proposal was approved by
the U.S. Department of Agriculture for a National Center for Natural
Products Research. Phase I provided 115,000 gross square feet of
space for multiple use including state-of-the-art research laboratories,
offices, conference space, classrooms, major instrument and computer
facilities, a
Science Library and an animal care facility. This $27.5 million
Center was occupied in Summer, 1995. A Phase II 120,000 gross
square feet addition to the National Center for Natural Products Research
is in the planning stages.
