- The School of Pharmacy was founded in 1908.
- The National Center for Natural Products Research, housed in the Thad Cochran Research Center, is the nation's only university-affiliated research center devoted to improving human health and agricultural productivity through the discovery, development, and commercialization of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals derived from natural products.
- The Department of Pharmacy Administration is one of only two pharmacy administration programs nationally to have doctoral students enrolled every year since 1961.

- Over the last six years (2002-07), graduates had an average pass rate (on first attempt) of 98.8%, and for four of these six graduating classes had a 100% pass rate on the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination.
