Post-Doctoral Associate-Proteomics Job Opening posted: September 9, 2009 University of Mississippi Environmental Toxicology Research Program The Environmental Toxicology faculty at The University of Mississippi are
seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to manage the daily operational
activities of performing LC/MS/MS based analysis of peptides and proteins using
the Waters Synapt HDMS system and related LC-MS platforms. The candidate will
work with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, and the position requires
prior hands-on experience with sophisticated LC-MS/MS systems and demands the
applicant have a working knowledge of LC-MS hardware (operation, maintenance and
troubleshooting) and software (database searching, statistical analysis).
Candidates having experience with gel-free proteomics is preferred. Job duties include but are not limited to: Preparation of samples; Sample fractionation/processing of biological samples; Protein identification and quantitation using "bottom-up" proteomics; Data processing; Data evaluation and interpretation; Preparation of technical reports; Assisting in the preparation of technical publications and presentations. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field by the time of appointment.
