Environmental Toxicology Research Program
My research project is focused on screening natural products for anticancer activity and identifying their mechanisms of action. My research plan involves developing a zebrafish xenograft model for identifying natural products that are therapeutically active against prostate cancer. My advisor is Dr. Kristine Willett.
Melinda (Mindy) Ansley
I am a second year master’s student pursuing a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences with an emphasis in Environmental Toxicology. My anticipated graduation date is December 2014. I am currently working on assessing different immune functions in the Hawaiian coral Montipora capitata and the role in protecting the coral against Montipora white syndrome, a tissue loss disease that affects only this species. Specifically, I am looking at immune enzymes, including antioxidants, and antimicrobial activity. My research advisor is Dr. Deborah Gochfeld.
I am doing research on the toxicity of nano-silver particles in medaka in pursuit of a masters degree. My research advisor is Dr. Willett.
